Park bench under shady trees - Bergen op Zoom

Banks flowing water and bodies

Estimated reading time: approx. 45s

In the Bolwerk park, there is a special bench for two people that is no ordinary simple bench. This bench also serves as a plinth for two intriguing bronze forms. At first glance, these forms seem merely like abstract artworks, captivating with their own mystery. However, upon closer inspection, a deeper layer of meaning is revealed. These bronze sculptures are, in fact, imprints of human body parts, meticulously crafted by the artist to capture the subtlety and uniqueness of the human body.

Between these sculptures, there is space for a small watercourse. Although this watercourse was out of use in May 2025, it is normally an essential part of the artwork. Via cleverly designed channels and small basins, the water normally meanders through the artwork, creating a soothing, trickling sound that adds a serene atmosphere to the surroundings. The gentle babbling of the water is almost meditative for those who take a seat on the bench, offering them the opportunity to relax fully and appreciate the beauty of the moment.
