The image “The Little Pot” is a striking and beloved artwork in the centre of Bergen op Zoom. It was created by visual artist Corrie Hagenaars-Levolger on the initiative of Potterstraat-Molstraat Residents' Association. The reason for this special artwork was the festive reopening of Potterstraat and Molstraat at the end of September 2005, after these streets had been repaved and redeveloped by the municipality.

The neighbourhood didn't want this moment to pass unnoticed and looked for a lasting symbol that would express the residents“ connection to their street. This resulted in the ”Pottertje": a small conductor, full of movement and character. The figure seems to lead the daily life in the street, as if bringing together residents, visitors, and passers-by in one harmonious whole. Thus, the sculpture stands not only for music and rhythm, but also for cohesion, community spirit, and liveliness in the city.

Eight months after reopening, the Potter's Wheel found its permanent place in a niche at the back of De Maagd Theatre, on Potterstraat. This location has been carefully chosen: the proximity to the theatre reinforces the symbolism of the conductor and creates a subtle connection between street life and performing arts.

For those who walk through Potterstraat, it is a small but meaningful work of art that serves as a reminder of collaboration, innovation, and neighbourhood pride.
