During the Open Monuments Days, the ‘Eigen Wijs’ Choral Festival will take place in the centre of Bergen op Zoom. The 'Stichting Korenfestival Bergen op Zoom' (Bergen op Zoom Choral Festival Foundation) presents two days full of singing with dozens of participating choirs from the region. The festival offers a wide range of genres: from pop and youth choirs to classical, mixed, and sea shanty choirs. Something for everyone, right in the heart of the historic city centre.

The festival allows choirs to perform at and in various city monuments, creating a unique combination of music and heritage. Visitors can stroll around the different stages for two days between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm and enjoy the performances. Entry is free, making it an accessible and atmospheric day for young and old alike.

The Choir Festival concludes with a mass sing-along by all choirs on the Grote Markt at 17:15. The event highlights the unifying nature of music and offers residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the rich cultural and musical tradition of Bergen op Zoom.

For 2026, the festival is planned for 12 and 13 September (2026)
