In mid-September, the centre of Bergen op Zoom is entirely dedicated to choral singing. During the Eigen Wijs Choir Festival, more than 50 choirs, with a total of over 2,000 choir members, perform at various locations in the city centre. Visitors can come and watch and listen to the performances for free all weekend.

From pop and gospel to classical, jazz and tearjerkers, all kinds of musical styles will feature during the choir festival. The participating choirs come from various parts of the Netherlands, with the concentration being in Noord-Brabant, Zeeland and Zuid-Holland.

Performances in special locations

Not only the quantity of choirs makes the festival special. The performances take place throughout the historic centre, both at outdoor locations and in monumental buildings. In total, more than 100 choir performances are scheduled over the course of the weekend.

Admission to the Choir Festival is free on both days. In the event of very bad weather, the organisers state that only the performances at indoor locations will take place.
