Op 24th December takes place in Bergen op Zoom again the impressive Candlelight evening place. On the Canadian and British fields of honour, at the Ruytershoveweg become 2400 candles erected in memory of the soldiers who during the World War Two They gave their lives for our freedom. A subdued, warm tradition that touches many visitors annually.

Lights evening in Bergen op Zoom

Op Christmas Eve at 4.00 p.m. all the lights are ready and switched on. From that moment up to and including Boxing Day The war cemeteries remain open to the public. Visitors can walk in silence past the many burning candles, which together form an impressive field of light.

This tribute is a special way to reflect on the stories and sacrifices of the Canadian and British servicemen who fought in our region.
