A church has graced this historic site since the fourteenth century, but the current building—the magnificent St Gertrude's Church—dates from 1477. The impressive tower, affectionately nicknamed ‘the Peperbus’ (Pepper Pot), holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Bergen op Zoom.
