Music, art and special heritage come together on Saturday 12 September during PopMonument in Bergen op Zoom. For the twelfth time, the festival is descending on the city, with concerts and other programme elements at seven unique locations. Bazart, Fresku, Marathon and Meral Polat are among those on this year's bill.

During PopMonument, monumental locations form the backdrop for a diverse range of artists. Visitors buy a single festival ticket, which allows them to put together their own programme for the evening. The venues are scattered throughout the city centre and are all accessible on foot.

From Bazart to Fresku

The Belgian band Bazart is returning as a headliner following a previous show in 2019 and will perform at Gebouw-T. The Amsterdam post-punk band Marathon will also be on stage there. Theater De Maagd is welcoming rapper Fresku and pianist Annelie, who will deliver the opening concert together with visual artist Mirjam Debets.

Meral Polat and the Belgian band Ão can be heard in the Markiezenhof. The Provoosthuis plays host to C’est Qui?, Death Sells and Keenan Mundane. The Suikerlab, the Sculpture Garden and the depot of the West Brabant Archives are also among the festival venues.

Bergen op Zoom in the Twilight Zone“

The theme of PopMonument 2026 is “Twilight Zone”. With this, the festival focuses on the tipping point between light and dark, past and future. Music, art and the stories behind the monuments are brought together during the festival.

A regular festival ticket costs 40 euros and provides access to all venues and performances. For visitors aged 27 and under, a limited number of youth tickets are available for 30 euros. Capacity may be limited at smaller venues.
