Every year, during the second weekend of September, the Netherlands plays host to a unique cultural event: Open Monumentendag (Heritage Open Days). This festival highlights rich history, contemporary art and culture, and opens the doors of various historical monuments to the public. Furthermore, numerous engaging activities are planned.

In Bergen op Zoom, you can enjoy access to approximately 35 impressive monuments, including ten former churches. In addition to the possibility of viewing them, with or without expert city guides, engaging activities are also organised within these monuments. Furthermore, the atmospheric Bergen op Zoom is made even more special during this weekend thanks to the combination with Pop-Monument. Pop-Monument is a unique initiative that brings artistic music and historical monuments together for a harmonious experience. The Pop-Monument music programme has been carefully curated to accentuate the special dynamic between the locations and the specially selected artists who perform there.

In 2025, the Choral Festival was also held. It is intended to be organised again in 2026.
