Those who want to experience culture this autumn at a special historic location can visit Podium Gradatus. From September through to December, the atmospheric Tower Room of the Peperbus will provide the setting for four intimate evenings featuring local history, music and poetry.

The Tower Room is located halfway up the ascent of the Peperbus. During the day, visitors can rest there, but on the evenings of Podium Gradatus, the space transforms into an intimate cultural venue. The historic walls and unique acoustics create a truly distinctive atmosphere.

Podium Gradatus is an initiative of the Bergen op Zoom City Guides. With this programme, they bring culture and the rich history of Bergen op Zoom together at a great height, both literally and figuratively.

Friday 25 September – The tram in Bergen op Zoom
Pierre Dietvorst talks about the history of the tram in Bergen op Zoom. A nostalgic evening with stories about transport in the past and the old Bergen streetscape.

Friday 30 October – Jazzwoods
The Jazzwoods ensemble delivers an atmospheric and intimate performance focusing on jazz, funk and groove.

Friday 20 November – Vocal ensemble MAZz
Vocal ensemble MAZz fills the Torenkamer with polyphonic singing. The unique acoustics of this historic space make the performance extra special.

Friday 18th December – Albert Hagenaars
Poet Albert Hagenaars is closing the season with a recitation of his poems, interspersed with live music.
