Saturday morning 12 September at 9.30 am, cultural alderman Rob van den Aarsen will give the starting signal for the 40th Heritage Days in Bergen op Zoom.
From the very beginning in 1986, Bergen op Zoom has taken part in the national Heritage Open Days. Later, the annexed villages of Halsteren and Lepelstraat joined in. Every year, many volunteers and various associations ensure that there is plenty to see, visit and experience. Essential to this is the cooperation of performing artists and musicians, private monument owners and the municipality itself.
The theme for 2026 is “Resilient Heritage”. Various locations will demonstrate how “old heritage” is given a new lease of life and/or a new function, thereby ensuring its use and continued existence. If desired, a cycling tour can be taken past ten such locations. Collect the 10 stamps along the way and a nice gift awaits you at the information stall on the Grote Markt.
The official opening of the OMD in the municipality of Bergen op Zoom will take place this year in the Markiezenhof, simultaneously with the opening of the Eigenwijs Choir Festival.
The event will be enlivened by a performance by a children's choir.
You are warmly invited to attend this. Walk-in from 9:00 am
