From June 4th, ProefMei will focus on regional products and gastronomy at the Markiezenhof.

Van 4 to 7 June 2026 historical Markiezenhof in Bergen op Zoom again in the sign of taste during Taste the May. The culinary festival brings together regional products, gastronomy and entertainment in the courtyards of the city palace.

During ProefMei, top restaurateurs from the region will present various dishes and culinary creations to the public. Regional products from the Brabantse Wal play an important role in this. Visitors can sample asparagus, strawberries, and anchovies from the region, among other things.

In addition to the culinary offerings, the festival also features musical performances, culinary tours, and cooking competitions. This makes ProefMei not just a food festival, but also an event where experience is central.

The setting of the Markiezenhof contributes to the atmosphere of the event. For four days, the historic courtyards of the city palace will be the stage for tastings, gatherings, and culinary activities.

ProefMei attracts visitors annually from Bergen op Zoom and beyond, and is considered one of the region's better-known culinary events. The combination of regional produce, gastronomy, and live entertainment makes the festival appealing to a wide audience.
