The duo exhibition by artists Liesbeth de Waal and Jan Kettelerij is taking place at Galerie Arsis on the Zuivelplein in Bergen op Zoom. While De Waal creates figurative and colourful work, Kettelerij's sculptures are abstract and subdued in colour. The festive opening will take place on Saturday 4 April from 2:00 PM with live music and a drink. 

Both artists are members of Arsis, an initiative by artists from West Brabant and Tholen. 
Arsis combines artistic forces and brings together professional artists and enthusiasts. 

The artists are apparent opposites. Liesbeth de Waal's paintings and drawings are figurative and include acrylic paint and watercolour. Her style is lively and fluid without losing a sense of detail. Jan Kettelerij's abstract sculptures are made from marble, alabaster, Belgian bluestone and French limestone, among other materials. The geometric design of his sculptures is brought to life by his great interest in architecture and design. His travels, the landscape and natural forms are infinite sources of inspiration for his abstract spatial work.

De Waal “Sometimes I start with a background, without knowing what it's going to be. Depending on what emerges from that, I decide what my drawing or painting should become.”
Kettelerij “With my sculptures, I balance movement and stillness. The play of light is important, because when the light intensity changes, you see the sculpture transform before your eyes.”

Liesbeth de Waal works from Bergen op Zoom and Jan Kettelerij, based in Tholen, from his studio in Oud-Vossemeer. Both artists exhibit throughout the Netherlands, undertake commissioned work, and regularly hold open studio events. 
The exhibition at gallery Arsis is from Friday 3 April to Sunday 26 April free to visit every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
