Concert lecture Bert Natter with pianist Marcel Worms – 2 June

Estimated reading time: approx. 47s

On June 2nd, a special concert lecture will take place with Bert Natter and Marcel Worms.

Bert Natter has with At the end of the war an impressive book was written, with which he reached the shortlist for the Libris Literature Prize.

From the jury report:At the end of the war shows the far-reaching consequences of years of indoctrination; (…). At the same time, Natter manages to portray not only a brutal camp commandant with a failed dream of becoming a pianist, but also a character who is at times laughable. But do you dare to laugh at it?’

Natter masterfully demonstrates in this richly textured novel that the stories from the Second World War are still not all told. Perhaps the time is now ripe for a new, penetrating, and almost documentary style of storytelling about atrocities that regrettably are still not a thing of the past.’

The author is coming together with pianist Marcel Worms for a concert-lecture to mark the release of his book. The programme includes works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn, as well as compositions by Schulhoff and Ullmann, both composers who were persecuted and murdered by the Nazis.
